BCPCOA Newsletter – Issue no. 16.  May, 2015

The spring meeting was held at the St. Mawes Sailing Club on 28/3/15 and was very well attended by members and others to hear Mr. Capps talk about his sail to Greenland in Dolphin. He talked of the perpetual perils of moving ice and finding a safe lead and anchorages, pictures of the rugged landscape and icebergs. He showed views of the climbs and walks and described the return voyage. It was an enjoyable meeting. The ferry from Falmouth was cancelled due to high winds so many had to drive from there.

The first two association races were held in Barry. After locking into the Barry dock, Enterprise quay for an evening entertainment and fish & chip supper to join in their splendid V.E. Day celebrations in the Yacht Club. The next morning saw a very windy and rough start. Mascotte and Dolphin being the only ones to complete. Marguerite, Olga, Peggy, also took part. Mascotte was the only one to complete the Barry Race. The Barry/Swansea Race on the following day, Mascotte was the only one to finish due to lack of wind. The Falmouth /Fowey Race was again won by Mascotte with Olga second and Marguerite third.

The autumn meeting will be again held at Pill on Sat.3/10/15. Punt &Pilot race 10.30am. HW.11.30. Lunch and meeting after.
